  • The fifth biggest country in Europe (in terms of area) The total land area is 447 435 km2 making it one of the largest countries in Europe. But despite that, Sweden has one of the lowest populations per square kilometer in all of Europe.
  • The Swedish Passport is among the world’s best passports another interesting fact about Sweden is the fact that their passport gives them entry without a visa to 124 countries in the world. And at arrival, can even obtain a visa to another 33 countries.
  • The majority of the Swedish population live along the coastline or the country's South. About 88% of the Swedes live in or near urban centres. The North of the country is very sparsely populated. 
  • Manufactured goods such as cars, electronics, clothing as well as refined petroleum are the main export products
  • Sweden is home to the famous Ice Hotel in the village of Jukkasjärvi. The hotel is crafted each year from two-tonne blocks of ice from the nearby Torne River.
  • Sweden might not be the first place on your mind when thinking of space exploration, but it does lead the world in one key astronomical way – it has the world’s largest scale model of the solar system.
  • The national animal of Sweden is the Eurasian elk or moose. About 300,000 to 400,000 of these huge hoofed mammals roam freely in Sweden. The Swedish name for moose is älg.
  • The Swedish people love to recycle. Only 1% of waste ends up in landfill with 50% being recycled or composted and 49% being incinerated for energy. 
  • In most of the world, Mickey Mouse reigns supreme as Disney’s best loved character. But in Sweden, Donald Duck is WAY more popular.
